The Face-To-Face Entrance Ceremony Resumes for the First Time in Four Years

   On February 21st, the “Dongguk University 2023 Freshman Admission Ceremony” was held at Jangchung Gymnasium in Jung-gu, Seoul. The entrance ceremony was the first indoor face-to-face entrance ceremony in four years since the COVID-19 incident. Not only the first-year students who participated in the entrance ceremony with the excitement of entering the school as freshmen, but also the seniors who attended the entrance ceremony to greet their freshmen.

   The entrance ceremony was hosted by announcer Lee Jung-min (Department of Advertising promotion 99), a graduate of Dongguk University. Announcer Lee Jung-min, who graduated from Dongguk University and went to society to fulfill her dream, gave words of encouragement to freshmen and announced the start of the entrance ceremony. 

   The entrance ceremony consists of open ceremony, Samgwi ritual, national ritual, guest introduction, school introduction, admission declaration, freshman oath, welcoming speech, and side event. Also, introduction to the dean of the college, congratulatory programs, and singing school songs. President Yoon Sung-yee emphasized the importance of dreams to students and advised them that they can successfully enter society if they continue to work with specific goals. Also, Yun Jae-woong, the new president, said, “The day will be new. The world will become that much more new and better when each and every one of you is refreshed day by day.”

   Furthermore, Ven. Jinmyeong sunim , the head of Jeonggakwon, parodied a popular program and received a great response from freshmen with a Buddhist quiz.

   Dongguk University freshmen, who announced the beginning of their college life through the entrance ceremony, finished their schedules by participating in orientation by college and participating in events prepared by the departments. In addition, for two weeks from February 20th to March 5th, there will be spaces to take pictures on campus, including Paljeongdo, and events will be held, so the Dongguk Post hopes the people of the country will pay a lot of attention.
